Acclaimed actress and producer Funke Akindele has revealed the upcoming release of her highly anticipated film, "Everybody Loves Jenifa," scheduled for December.
While Akindele keeps further details under wraps, fans eagerly await confirmation whether the film will hit theaters or streaming platforms. "Everybody Loves Jenifa" is expected to continue the legacy of the beloved Jenifa franchise, which includes "The Return of Jenifa" and the TV series "Jenifa’s Diary."
Based on Akindele's iconic portrayal of Jenifa, the story follows her journey from a village girl seeking fortune in the city, navigating life's complexities alongside a vibrant ensemble cast.
"Jenifa" received four nominations at the 2009 Africa Movie Academy Awards and starred notable actors including Iyabo Ojo, Ronke Odusanya, and Eniola Badmus.
Akindele's previous work, "A Tribe Called Judah," premiered in cinemas in December 2023 and set a box office record within 21 days, grossing over N1bn. This success surpassed her earlier films "Battle on Buka Street" and "Omo Ghetto," currently ranking as the second and third highest-grossing films in Nigerian box office history, respectively.
