Nigeria Correctional Service Debunks Speculation on Bobrisky's Prison Transfer

Amid swirling rumors, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) quashes speculation surrounding the relocation of Bobrisky, the controversial cross-dresser, from Ikoyi custodial center to Kirikiri Prison in Lagos State. Despite initial reports suggesting Bobrisky's discreet transfer to Kirikiri over the weekend to complete his sentence, NCoS officials assert that he remains confined at Ikoyi prison.

Addressing the situation anonymously, officials clarify that Bobrisky's offense does not meet the criteria for transfer to a maximum-security facility typically reserved for severe crimes. Plans for inmate relocations are under consideration, primarily aimed at alleviating overcrowding concerns and maintaining proximity to families. The possibility of moving inmates with shorter sentences, like Bobrisky, is discussed to free up space for those awaiting trial. However, such individuals are unlikely to be transferred to maximum-security prisons, as indicated by NCoS sources.
