Federal Government Resumes N75,000 Cash Transfers to 75 Million Nigerians

Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance, announced the Federal Government's restart of conditional direct cash transfers to tackle inflation. The initiative, aimed at improving living standards, involves transferring N75,000 to 75 million Nigerians, encompassing 15 million households.

During a ministerial briefing marking President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, Edun explained that the payments would be made through digital routes to ensure transparency and efficiency. Beneficiaries must have a National Identity Number, an account number, or mobile wallets to receive the funds.

To expedite the process, Mobile Network operators have been recruited. This initiative follows the suspension of previous social investment programs due to alleged misappropriation of funds.
