Renowned gospel musician Tope Alabi has expressed her sorrow over the passing of her younger colleague and mentee, Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold. The news of Aduke Gold's death was first announced by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele, who shared the sad news on Instagram, stating, “A general has fallen.” The cause of death has not yet been revealed.


In a heartfelt Instagram post, Tope Alabi conveyed her deep affection for Aduke, saying, “Aduke, you knew I loved you, but Jesus loves you more. Rest in perfect peace.”


Aduke Gold, initially known as Aduke Penkele, adopted her stage name on the advice of her mentor, Tope Alabi. She gained widespread recognition with her hit single, ‘Nitori Ogo’ (Because of Glory), which endeared her to many fans. In 2020, Aduke Gold had the opportunity to perform the song alongside Tope Alabi during the latter's 50th birthday celebration.


In a 2020 interview, Aduke Gold shared her admiration for several gospel icons, naming D.A Fasoyin, The Ayo ni C&S choir, Telemi, J.A Adelakun of the Ayewa fame, Yemi Olabanji, Bola Are, Tope Alabi, and Sola Allyson as her role models.
