Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson recently took to Instagram to express his frustration over the ongoing decline in his follower count on the platform. Despite gaining followers daily, the actor noted that Instagram has reduced his followers from 2.1 million to 2 million, impacting his engagement.
In a post on his Instagram page, Adeniyi sarcastically thanked the platform for its "retrogressiveness," highlighting how his account has been stagnant for four years. He wrote, "My dearly beloved Instagram, after holding my account for four years at 2 million followers despite daily growth, you decided to take me to 2.1 million by May's end, and now I'm back to 2 million. This is just to appreciate you for your retrogressiveness!! You too much!! Thank you, Instagram."
His post sparked reactions from both fans and colleagues. Fellow actor Biola Bayo commented, "If you're not in his shoes, congratulations to you." Israel DMW shared his own experience, saying, "I have lost over 40k and still counting." Fans also chimed in, with one asking, "But why is Instagram reducing our followers like this? Are they deleting people’s accounts or what?" Others shared similar experiences, with one user humorously noting, "The whole Instagram and its staff dey get mood swings."
Adeniyi Johnson's post has resonated with many who are also facing similar issues with the platform, shedding light on a growing concern among users.
