Veteran Nollywood actor Akin Lewis, known for his successful acting career since the 70s, has candidly discussed the breakdown of his two marriages in a recent interview with The Sun. Lewis revealed that both marriages ended due to his ex-wives’ greed and lack of understanding of their roles as partners, shedding light on the personal struggles behind his public life.
When asked about promiscuity and sexual scandals in Nollywood, Lewis stated that he has never been involved in any such scandals, emphasizing that his work and personal life remain separate. "Nobody has ever accused me of that, and it can't just be me," he said.
Speaking about his two failed marriages, Lewis pointed to his ex-wives' selfishness, explaining, "They were just being greedy and didn't understand their roles as wives. They wanted it all without thinking of the implications on the family."
When questioned about his own role in the failed relationships, Lewis admitted to making mistakes but stressed that his ex-wives' selfishness played a major part. He expressed regret about the marriages, saying, "I want them deleted. It’s not funny when you give someone all you have, and they take it for granted."
In contrast, Lewis spoke warmly about his current relationship, stating that he is finally experiencing true commitment. "I keep asking God why He made me wait so long," he said, reflecting on the difference between his past marriages and his present happiness. He met his current partner through a friend and noted that her dedication to their relationship made her stand out.
Lewis’s frankness provides insight into the often hidden personal challenges faced by public figures, showing that even the most successful individuals are not immune to relationship struggles.
