Nigerian singer Patoranking's sister, Chioma, and her husband, George Onuabuchi, have been confirmed as victims of a tragic gas explosion in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, August 25, claimed their lives, as disclosed by the Ebonyi Police Command.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Joshua Ukandu, spokesperson for the Command, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, not an inverter battery as initially speculated. Ukandu shared that a preliminary investigation revealed that the couple succumbed to injuries from the gas explosion.
The explosion occurred in the Waterworks area of Abakaliki. Residents alerted the authorities, who responded promptly, but the couple had already been taken to the hospital. Chioma tragically passed away in August, while her husband, George, succumbed to his injuries in September.
Ukandu further confirmed that Chioma was the younger sister of Afrobeat star Patoranking. The couple is survived by their three-year-old son.
