Nollywood actress Folorunsho Adeola, widely known as Arike Gold, has emphasized the significant role social media has played in advancing her career and business. In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, she shared how platforms like Instagram and Facebook have helped her expand her brand and connect with a broader, especially international, audience.
Arike Gold expressed her love for social media, stating, “I want it to remain the way it is because I make money from it through my business. Most of my customers are in the Diaspora.” This highlights how social media has transformed the way she promotes her work and engages with fans, enabling her business to thrive on a global scale.
Known for her unique fashion sense, Adeola described her hair as her most prized possession, noting, “It is very expensive.” She also discussed her adaptability as an actress, explaining how her appearance often changes based on script requirements.
Addressing industry challenges, Adeola raised concerns about the underpayment of actors, which can be influenced by personal relationships. She remarked, “It was like that even before we got into the industry. When we got in, we had to do free jobs. Now, things have changed. We are in the age of social media. One can even be a celebrity on Instagram before being a celebrity on TV.”
Arike Gold's journey began with her first film role in Alapa Stainless, produced by Mr. Latin in 2008. However, she gained notable recognition for her performances in Ayonitemi and Olowolayemo.
