Renowned Nollywood actress Ronke Odusanya has shared her experiences with being underestimated in the film industry and her resilience in overcoming challenges.
In a recent interview, Ronke revealed that she has faced ridicule in the past, with some mocking her by calling her the “YouTube queen.” Despite this, she expressed gratitude for those who continue to recognize her talent and offer her acting opportunities.
On cinema collaborations, she noted that while some producers have overlooked her due to biased opinions, others have remembered her for notable roles. She shared her frustration over being replaced after a producer was advised to cast someone else who could "speak better English." Responding to such remarks, Ronke confidently questioned: “Please, what kind of English can’t I speak?”
The actress also highlighted her achievements on international platforms. She proudly shared her involvement in the Pan-African TV series Closets, filmed in South Africa. Ronke explained that she was one of only three Nigerians, alongside Kunle Afolayan, chosen for the two-month project. She emphasized that her expenses, including visas, were fully covered by the production team.
