“I will be saying a lot of 'No' this year” – Actress Ashabi issues a PSA to her colleagues and others as she declares her work policy for 2025.

Nollywood actress and mother of two, Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has shared her professional goals for the new year. Taking to her Instagram page, Ashabi addressed her colleagues and vendors, emphasizing that she will no longer work for free or at low rates in 2025.

The actress candidly stated that friends in the entertainment industry who wish to feature her in their projects must include payment in their budgets. She added that she would not be upset if they chose not to involve her but would be offended if they expected her support without compensation.

Ashabi also directed her message at brands and vendors, urging them to avoid approaching her with requests for free endorsements or unfair rates. She explained that the rising cost of living makes it impossible for her to work without fair pay, as she has bills to manage.

In her post, Ashabi revealed her intention to prioritize meaningful work this year. She plans to take on jobs that align with her values and bring her joy, rather than merely fulfilling routine obligations.

Her post read:

“You are my friend, and you really want me on your project this year. Make sure you include payment in your budget or don’t call me at all. I won’t even be mad. But I will be mad if you expect me to support you for free.

You are a vendor, and if you want me to influence your brand for free or at silly rates, don’t bother. I’d rather not work with you. Bills are not joking with anyone right now, so if I work for free, how do I pay my bills?

I will be saying a lot of NO this year. I want to do jobs I will be proud of and be happy doing. (So help me God).”

Her bold stance has sparked discussions online, with fans praising her for setting boundaries and valuing her worth.
