Ibadan stampede: Oyo Court Grants Bail to Olori Naomi, Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdulahi Fasasi

Justice K.B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has granted bail to Olori Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdulahi Fasasi. The three are on trial in connection with the death of 35 children during a funfair organized by the Wings Foundation, managed by Olori Naomi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife.

The bail conditions include a ₦10 million bond, two sureties who must submit documents of landed property within the court's jurisdiction, and the deposit of their international passports with the court. They are also prohibited from granting interviews during the trial.

On December 24, 2024, Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi ordered their remand at Agodi Correctional Facility while awaiting advice from the Department of Public Prosecution. They are facing charges of conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligence causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.

The Oyo State government has also filed an 18-count charge against them, including allegations of conspiracy to commit murder, manslaughter, and criminal negligence, punishable under the Criminal Code of Oyo State. The court had previously reserved its ruling on January 7, 2025, before granting bail.
