Prince Ayobami Ladigbolu, a contender for the Alaafin of Oyo throne, has shared his experiences from the recently concluded contest. In a heartfelt statement on Facebook, the prince extended his congratulations to the newly crowned Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Owoade, calling his emergence divinely ordained.
Reflecting on the challenges he faced, Ladigbolu expressed disappointment over losing support from some initial backers due to financial constraints. He noted that those he had previously supported did not reciprocate when he needed assistance during his campaign.
“I learned the value of money during the Alaafinate race,” he said. “Some people who initially supported me later switched sides due to financial reasons. When I needed their help, those I had helped in the past did not stand by me. I am not upset but have taken important lessons for the future.”
Despite the challenges, Ladigbolu expressed gratitude to the Agbonhin Sanda Oridota family and the Ladigbolu section of the Agunloye royal family for their support. He also thanked his siblings, wife, children, and other benefactors who stood by him throughout the journey.
In his congratulatory message, the prince celebrated Oba Abimbola Owoade, emphasizing that his ascension to the throne was ordained by God.
“We, the entire Ladigbolu family, felicitate with the new king. Congratulations, Kabiyesi,” he said.
Prince Ladigbolu’s reflections highlight the lessons and gratitude he carries forward, even as he wishes the new Alaafin a successful reign.
