Veteran Actress Bukky Wright Opens Up on Depression Battle and How Her Children Helped Her Heal

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has shared her struggles with depression and how she overcame them, crediting her children for helping her through the difficult journey.

During a candid conversation on The Teju Baby Face Show, the actress revealed that she once relied on antidepressants to cope with depression. However, it was her children who stepped in and guided her toward healing, encouraging her to stop stressing and enjoy life more.

Bukky Wright spoke fondly of her children, describing them as her biggest critics and strongest pillars of support. She expressed her deep love for them, acknowledging that their love for her is equally strong. She recalled how they urged her to focus on herself and find happiness outside of her responsibilities as a mother.

"There was a time when I was depressed, and I had to take antidepressants. But my children helped me wean off them. They have always been my number one critics. I would say they are my pillar of life because they know I would do anything for them. But one day, they told me, ‘Iya, you’ve always lived for us, now it’s time to live for yourself. Enjoy life and have fun.’"

In 2024, fans and colleagues celebrated Bukky Wright’s return to Nollywood after a long break. She made a comeback in the upcoming movie Red Circle, produced by Nora Awolowo. The film's producer confirmed the news on social media, stating, “You asked for Bukky Wright. My job was to make it happen!”

With her return to the screen and a renewed outlook on life, Bukky Wright continues to inspire many with her resilience and strength.
