Actress Ayo Adesanya Reveals How Her Ex-Husband’s Behavior Affected Her Career (Video)

Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya has opened up about why she stopped producing and featuring in movies for a period of time. In a recent interview on the With Chude YouTube channel, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actress shared emotional details about her struggles.

Ayo revealed that her ex-husband’s controlling and abusive behavior greatly impacted her career. She explained that he restricted her from communicating freely, and whenever male colleagues or filmmakers called her for job opportunities, he would break her phone and block her from responding. This constant interference eventually made other actors stop inviting her for movie roles.

In her words, she said:

“My husband restricted me to the extent that I could not even speak to people without his permission. It got to a point that whenever my colleagues called me for jobs, he would question me. I stopped acting because anytime men called me, my husband would break my phone. Some actors stopped inviting me, and whenever my colleagues called, he would tell them that I was not available.”

Following the interview, social media users took to the comment section to react and confirm her story:

Rohaja wrote: “How do people stay in an abusive marriage? Are you not loved at home?”

Bukkie commented: “I think the ex-husband was also an actor back then, a light-skinned slim man, if I remember correctly.”

Choco added: “If you stay in Surulere, you’ll know how her husband used to disgrace her publicly. She’s a good woman.”

Mighty wrote: “All that she said is true. I lived on the same street with them in Ojuelegba.”

Iammatee said: “It’s the fact that people are confirming her story in the comments for me… wow.”

Ayo Adesanya’s revelation has sparked sympathy and support from fans, with many praising her strength and resilience in overcoming those difficult times.
