Veteran Nollywood actor, Olaiya Igwe, has shared an emotional story about a mistake he made years ago that still weighs heavily on his heart. The actor admitted to wronging popular gospel singer Tope Alabi, and despite asking for forgiveness many times, he continues to feel regret.
In a recent interview on Baba Ibe TV, Olaiya Igwe, whose real name is Ebun Oloyede, recalled how the incident happened. According to him, he had purchased a luxury car for one of his movie projects. Unfortunately, the car was stolen but later recovered. Around that time, Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji Alabi, visited him and requested to use the car for their wedding. Olaiya agreed happily.
However, as their wedding day approached, fear took over. Olaiya became worried that the car might get stolen again. Instead of explaining his fears, he cut off communication with the couple. On their big day, Tope Alabi and her husband tried to reach him, but he ignored their calls. Sadly, they had to borrow a friend’s car for their wedding.
The actor confessed that he immediately regretted his decision. He has since begged Tope Alabi for forgiveness several times. In one touching moment, he pleaded with her in the presence of veteran actor Olu Jacobs. Olaiya shared that Tope Alabi forgave him and did not hold the matter against him. Olu Jacobs also comforted him, reminding him that his actions were out of fear, not wickedness.
The actor ended by saying he will always carry the regret but is grateful for her kindness and understanding.
