Ijoba Lande Calls Out Funke Akindele for Paying Him ₦90K After Working for One Month (Video)

Nigerian comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has shared his experience working with renowned actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele.

During a live session on social media, Lande revealed that he was paid only ₦90,000 for a full month of work on one of Akindele’s projects. He advised up-and-coming entertainers to understand their worth, set their rates confidently, and avoid idolizing industry figures.

He further disclosed that during the period, he had to stay at Akindele’s Amen Estate residence, despite being married and living in Ayobo at the time.

Lande recounted how he was excited when Funke Akindele reached out to him after seeing one of his videos. He described her as soft-spoken but revealed that throughout his time working for her, they never took a single picture together, and she was not approachable.

“I was happy because I thought working with her was a big opportunity,” Lande said. “When she showed interest in working with me, I didn’t even think about charging her a fee because of her status. But if it were now, even if Michael Jackson wanted to use me, I would tell him my rate.”

He narrated how he was handed a contract upon arriving at Amen Estate by a producer named Wendy, who informed him that he would be paid ₦90,000 monthly. He admitted that he signed the contract without much thought, assuming it was just a formality—only to realize at the end of the month that it was indeed his actual salary.

His revelation has sparked discussions about fair compensation in Nollywood, with many debating whether the payment was justified or if established filmmakers should offer better financial rewards to rising talents.
