Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has strongly responded to Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi after Mange issued a stern warning to her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, over her public relationship with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
Earlier, Mange Kimambi had cautioned Priscilla against posting romantic photos and videos with Jux, claiming such content could distract Tanzanians during their ongoing political struggle ahead of the country’s elections. Mange advised the couple to pause such posts for the next five months until the elections are over.
In a fiery Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo expressed her shock and disapproval at Mange’s comments, calling them offensive and intimidating. She said she was appalled by Mange’s audacity in referring to her daughter’s content as "stup!d" and insisted that her daughter has every right to post what she wants.
“As a parent, I’ve raised my daughter to be confident and authentic,” Iyabo wrote. “I don’t joke with my daughter. Keep her out of your political drama.”
Iyabo also addressed rumours that the Tanzanian government funded her daughter’s wedding. She clarified that it was a Nigerian family tradition where the bride’s family sponsors the wedding and that Nigerians, not the government, made the ceremony possible.
The actress, who identifies as an activist herself, emphasized that true activism should not involve insults or threats. She also called out Mange for trying to control others while living abroad.
“My daughter doesn’t need your approval or love. She is well-loved and protected by her own,” Iyabo stated firmly.
Her post has sparked reactions across both Nigerian and Tanzanian social media spaces, with many supporting her for defending her daughter, while others called for mutual respect between cultures during sensitive times.
