Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has addressed and shut down rumours suggesting she suffered domestic or physical abuse during her marriage to her ex-husband, Seyi.
Last week, Biola revealed that she and Seyi have been separated since April 2023. The actress said they both agreed to co-parent their son peacefully and with maturity.
In a heartfelt update on Instagram, Biola re-edited her divorce announcement post, making it clear that there was never any form of physical violence or abuse in the marriage. "My ex-husband, Seyi, has never laid a finger on me, and I never did as well," she stated. "We never ever had any physical abuse or violent issues from either of us."
Biola also apologised to fans who may feel disappointed by the news and admitted she truly wished her marriage had worked. She explained that despite appearing strong and happy in public, she had secretly been crying into her pillow almost every night for the past 14 months.
She urged fans to pray for both of them and reminded the public to be kind, as no one truly knows the private battles others are fighting until they choose to speak up.
The couple’s separation happened less than two years after they welcomed their son. In 2023, after many years of trying, Biola gave birth to her first child in her 40s. She previously shared her emotional journey to motherhood, including failed IVF attempts, a cancelled surrogate cycle, and three failed surrogacy attempts before finally being blessed with her son.
Biola's honest post has touched many fans online, with people praising her strength and openness.
