Outfit Controversy: Blogger Yinka TNT Criticizes Mercy Aigbe Over ₦16 Million Premiere Dress

Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has once again become the center of public attention — not for her acting, but for the cost of her outfit. During the premiere of Toyin Abraham’s new movie, Mercy dazzled fans with a glamorous attire that she later revealed cost a staggering ₦16 million.

While the outfit turned heads on the red carpet, it also raised eyebrows online. Controversial blogger and journalist Yinka TNT slammed Mercy for spending such a huge amount on a dress she might never wear again. In a critical post, Yinka questioned the actress’s priorities, saying:

“You bought a cloth for 16 million just for an event and probably won’t wear it again. You’re coming from an industry where people later beg for help — elders with health, kidney, or mental problems — and yet this is what you choose to do with your money.”

Fans Clap Back, Defend Mercy Aigbe

The comment sparked a major debate online. Many of Mercy Aigbe’s fans came to her defense, saying that she worked hard for her money and had every right to spend it as she pleased.

Needless wrote: “Her money, her choice 😍 Rest ma.”

Justbabies added: “So she should save her money for others with health issues? She works hard and will help when needed! Abeg rest in Jesus name 🙄.”

Folashade mocked the criticism: “You want to take over her account and help her spend her money how you like?”

Alata said the outfit price was likely exaggerated: “The outfit no be ₦16 million, it’s just clout. Don’t take it personal 😂.”

One commenter, Ashewo, strongly attacked Yinka’s double standards, accusing her of hypocrisy:

“So Mercy who works night and day shouldn’t enjoy her money, but save it for others doing charity online? Did you give Lizzy the same advice when she claimed her outfit cost ₦100M? You’re just bitter.”
