"Enough is Enough" — Iyabo Ojo Reveals Why She Supported Princess Against Baba Ijesha Amid Rape Allegations

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up about why she strongly supported comedian Princess during the high-profile rape case involving actor Baba Ijesha.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Goldroom with Iyabo, the outspoken actress explained that her fierce reaction was rooted in personal trauma. She revealed that she had also been sexually abused multiple times in the past, which made her deeply emotional and triggered by the case.

“I was outraged by what happened, maybe because I had experienced it multiple times myself. I just felt like, ‘enough is enough,’” she said.

Iyabo also expressed her shock and disappointment at how some adults tried to twist the narrative, going as far as attacking the young victim and Princess, instead of standing for justice. This, she said, opened her eyes to how deeply flawed the Nigerian society still is when it comes to protecting the vulnerable.

She stressed the importance of accountability within the entertainment industry, saying public figures must set good examples for the society.

“When my fellow entertainers do wrong, I speak up because we have a duty to lead by example. We are role models and evangelists in our own way. If we play a bad role, there should be consequences — that’s the message we preach in our movies. We can’t be preaching one thing and doing the opposite in real life.”

Iyabo’s comments have sparked renewed praise for her courage and her unwavering stand against abuse, especially in an industry where silence is often the norm.
