“I Am an Actor and a Filmmaker” – Ayo Olaiya Breaks Silence, Denies Using Late Singer Mohbad’s Story for a Film Project

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ayo Olaiya has publicly addressed and debunked rumours claiming he planned to exploit the story of late singer Mohbad for a movie and feature the singer’s father in the production.

A viral video had earlier surfaced online showing Ayo Olaiya and some of his colleagues on a movie set near Ikorodu, where they interacted with Mohbad’s father. This sparked public criticism and speculation that the actor was working on a film based on Mohbad’s life and including his father in the project.

Taking to his verified Instagram page, Ayo Olaiya cleared the air, emphasizing that he is strictly a filmmaker, not a human rights activist, and has no plans to capitalize on the tragic story of the late singer.

“My name is Ayo Olaiya. I am an actor and a filmmaker. I have never claimed to be a human rights activist,” he stated.

“Contrary to the lies going around, I never planned to use Mohbad’s story for a movie, and I have not featured Mohbad’s dad in any of my movies.”

Ayo went on to explain that during a film shoot near Mohbad’s father’s residence in Ikorodu, one of his team members recognized the man and excitedly called out to him. Mohbad’s father then stepped out of his car, greeted the crew, and took pictures with them out of goodwill.

He urged those spreading false information to verify facts before jumping to conclusions, while expressing appreciation to his fans for their unwavering support.

“Always take your time to verify things before jumping to conclusions,” he said. “To my fans, I love you all for your unflinching love and support. Many thanks for your concern. God bless you all. Rest on, legendary Mohbad.”

The clarification comes amid continued public interest in the late singer’s life and the events surrounding his untimely death, which has remained a topic of national conversation.
