Nollywood actress Bidemi Kosoko has stirred emotional reactions on social media after revealing her heartbreak over cutting her daughter’s long hair due to spiritual beliefs.
In a video shared online, Bidemi showed before-and-after clips of her daughter’s full, beautiful hair being shaved off, expressing her sadness over the tradition. She explained that she only followed the instruction given by a prophetess in their Celestial Church, which advised that a girl’s hair should not be shaved until she turns three years old.
Bidemi, however, called for change and appealed to fellow Celestial parents to reconsider this rule. According to her, waiting three years to shave a girl’s hair is too long, especially when the child already has long and healthy hair.
“Still can’t believe I scraped my daughter’s very long hair. Chai! Before you come for me, please no be me oooo.
My fellow Cele parents, I think we need to have a meeting with all these prophetesses. Telling a girl child to wait till 3 years before scraping her hair is not nice. Walai, 1 year to wait is okay now,” she lamented.
Her post has sparked conversations among Celestial Church members and parents online, many of whom supported her emotional reaction and echoed her call for a review of the tradition.
