Nollywood actor Monsuru Ayanfe has opened up about his past experience working with award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele.
In an interview with Jeff Owolewa, Monsuru recalled how he accidentally damaged Funke’s new car while trying to park it after a movie shoot. According to him, Funke initially got angry but later surprised him with an apology.
He explained:
“I was the one who spoiled Funke Akindele’s new car while I was trying to pack her car after the movie set. Funke is someone who gets angry easily, but when she is calm, she apologises. If she reacts to something someone says, she retraces her steps and apologises.”
Monsuru described the moment as shocking because he did not expect a top filmmaker like Funke to apologise after the incident.
The actor also spoke about his early career days with Femi Adebayo, revealing that he earned just ₦5,000 as payment when he started out.
He said:
“I was collecting ₦5,000 when I started my career from Femi Adebayo because of the passion and flair I had for acting. He was making ₦20,000 at the time, but he paid me ₦5,000.”
Monsuru noted that despite the little pay, his love for acting kept him going and helped shape his career in Nollywood.
