Veteran Nollywood actress Olanrewaju Hassan, popularly known as Iya Awero, has spoken about her long-standing relationship with fellow actor Jide Kosoko, describing him as more than just a colleague.
In a recent interview on Behind The Fame African A-List, Iya Awero revealed that she and Jide share deep family ties.
“Jide and I are family. Although he’s younger than me, we both hail from the same Kosoko Morounfolu Okunoye family in Lagos,” she said.
She fondly recalled Jide Kosoko’s key role in their acting group’s early days, praising his commitment as a dependable manager who handled logistics and consistently supported the team.
“He was always there for us, ready to go wherever we needed. Jide handled our logistics and was a strong pillar of support,” she shared.
Iya Awero also applauded Kosoko’s exceptional talent for writing persuasive proposals, which helped them secure numerous acting gigs.
“Once Jide wrote a proposal, it was almost certain we’d land the job,” she recalled, adding that both Jide and veteran actor Oga Bello were highly creative and full of storytelling ideas.
She concluded by reflecting on her own passion for the theatrical side of acting:
“I was deeply drawn to the performance itself — the costumes, how they were worn, and how they enhanced each scene.”
