Oriyomi Hamzat Apologizes to Naira Marley, Lifts Two-Year Ban on Marlian Records Music

Radio presenter Oriyomi Hamzat has publicly apologized to Nigerian singer Naira Marley and announced that Agidigbo FM will now resume playing his songs, officially lifting the two-year ban on Marlian Records music.

The ban, which began in September 2024, followed the controversy surrounding the death of Marley’s former signee, Mohbad. At the time, Naira Marley was accused of having links to the tragic incident, prompting Agidigbo FM to blacklist all Marlian Records tracks.

However, following Marley’s clearance from the allegations, Oriyomi admitted he had misjudged the singer. In his statement, he apologized for the earlier decision and confirmed that Marlian Records’ songs will once again enjoy airplay on the station.

The development has sparked mixed reactions on social media:

@aderinsolaaaaaa: “I no sure say Ibadan people sabi Marlian Records like that, when e no be Qdot 😒.”

@the_oddmind: “Marley was complicit in the boy’s death either directly or remotely. Apologizing only reiterates the rot in our system. Suge Knight did same for 2Pac and he was jailed. It is sad everyone flow with this wind in this country. Even in places where you are supposed to see wisdom.”

@1bigbromarlee: “Well, Naira was silent and he had the patience.”

@kinglabi_: “Watch out for his next banger song.”

@Ham_mayour: “Person wey kpai don go niyen, make God no allow kpai at young age.”

@citybvyy: “What about all the damages they made? They just want to start playing his songs back? Lmao.”

While some welcomed the decision and praised Naira Marley’s patience, others criticized the apology as too little, too late, insisting that Mohbad’s death should not be overlooked.
