Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team is still waiting for the $100,000 cash prize and other rewards promised by the Federal Government after their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade expressed disappointment over the delay. When asked if the payment had been made, she replied, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid. All the promises, we have not received anything.”
The Federal Government had hosted the Super Falcons after their historic WAFCON triumph — a record-extending title win — and announced a reward package of $100,000 for each player, along with a three-bedroom apartment. President Bola Tinubu also conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on the players and their technical crew.
Despite the fanfare and celebrations, Ajibade confirmed that none of the promised rewards have been fulfilled so far.
