The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, has issued a strong warning to women about a common social habit.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Iringe-Koko explained that it is a punishable offence for a woman to collect transport fare from a man and then refuse to visit him. She described the act as obtaining money under false pretence, also known as “419.”
Her words:
“Why will you collect transport fare from a man without going to see him? It’s a punishable offence. It is obtaining money under false pretence — 419.”
The video has sparked massive reactions online. Many men praised the police officer for boldly pointing out the legal consequences, while others argued over whether such matters should involve the law.
