Nigerians have been thrown into mourning following the burial of fast-rising comedian Raji Samad Olabisi, popularly known as Sanku Comedy, who tragically died in a fatal car accident.
Sanku passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, after a crash along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. In an emotional video now circulating online, the comedian was laid to rest on Tuesday, September 2, in Osogbo, Osun State. His body, wrapped in white cloth, was carried away as family, friends, colleagues, and sympathizers wept bitterly while paying their final respects.
Tributes have since flooded social media from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, many describing his death as a painful loss to Nigerian comedy.
Reports revealed that just two weeks before the tragedy, Sanku had narrowly survived another accident with his Lexus car. A recent chat with a friend also showed the late comedian lamenting frequent crashes since buying the vehicle.
Born in 2021 as a skit maker, Sanku quickly gained attention online with relatable content rooted in Nigerian culture and everyday struggles. His big break came in 2024 when one of his freestyle videos went viral, amassing over 70,000 views.
Known for his sharp wit, humility, and authenticity, he built a strong fan base across Instagram, X (Twitter), and YouTube, working with top comedians and influencers. In just a short time, he rose to become one of the most notable young creators in the comedy industry.
Sadly, his promising career has been cut short, leaving fans heartbroken but grateful for the joy he shared through his craft.
