Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of posing the greatest danger to Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement shared on his verified X handle on Sunday, Atiku said the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has become a “full-blown dictatorship” and represents the biggest risk to democratic governance since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
He made the remarks during a solidarity visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, who was recently attacked by alleged APC-sponsored thugs at the inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna.
Atiku stressed that the government’s current actions are deeply concerning and a major setback for democratic values in the country.
