Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage has firmly rejected claims that Afrobeats is entering its weakest phase in the past two decades.
This comes after industry figures like Paul Okoye (Paulo) and DJ Big N voiced concerns that the popular genre might be losing momentum. Speaking at the Unstoppable Africans event, Tiwa confidently stated that Afrobeats remains a global force that continues to grow stronger every day.
According to the “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker, Afrobeats is not fading—it is expanding its reach, filling stadiums, and dominating music charts around the world.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Tiwa shared how the success of Afrobeats has deepened her pride in her African roots. She revealed that while growing up in London, she once felt embarrassed about her identity, but now, she feels immense pride seeing the genre celebrated worldwide.
“Afrobeats is the fastest-growing genre in the world. We built it from nothing — no support, no structure, no belief — not even from our own people,” she said. “People once said Afrobeats would only last fifteen minutes, but today, we’re selling out stadiums and topping global charts.”
