President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ceremony took place on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja around 1:50 p.m.
During the event, President Tinubu urged Professor Amupitan to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process and strengthen the institutional capacity of INEC. He emphasized the importance of fairness, transparency, and accountability in the conduct of elections.
Amupitan’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate a week earlier, on October 16, following a thorough screening session. His swearing-in marks the beginning of a new leadership phase at the electoral body.
