Nigerian singer Korede Bello has shared a powerful message about the impact of poverty on education, creativity, and the human ability to dream beyond survival.
In a thoughtful video posted on Instagram, the “Godwin” crooner said poverty is one of the greatest threats to curiosity — the same drive that fuels learning and innovation. According to him, many people cannot fully explore their potential because they are too focused on meeting their basic needs.
Using billionaire Elon Musk as an example, Korede noted that wealth provides people with the freedom to think creatively.
“Think about this, right? Would Elon Musk be concerned about space travel if his rent was due or if he didn’t know what he was going to eat tomorrow?” he asked.
The singer explained that several Africans with the potential to change the world are unable to pursue their passions due to hunger and survival struggles. He stressed that if young people across Africa had access to stable resources and basic necessities, the continent would witness a remarkable rise in creativity and innovation.
“If money wasn’t an issue, what would you learn? What would you think about? Because the truth is, it’s a privilege to follow your curiosity when you’re not worried about surviving,” he said.
Korede further added that the world’s most successful people often go beyond formal education — they are self-taught, curious, and driven by passion.
He concluded with a striking statement:
“When you stop surviving is when you start living. If you’re still surviving, you never get to live.”
His message has sparked conversations online, with many fans praising his deep insight into how poverty can suppress potential and creativity.
