Toke Makinwa Responds to Fan Who Assumed Her Daughter’s Father Is Muslim Because of Her Name

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has responded to public speculation about the identity and religion of her baby’s father.

In August, reports confirmed that Toke welcomed her first child — a baby girl named Yakira Eliana — at age 40. Just a few days ago, she shared a video tour of her daughter’s beautifully decorated pink-themed nursery.

Under the post, a fan suggested that Yakira’s father might be Muslim because of the child’s name, writing:

“I think Yakira’s dad is a Muslim.”

Toke quickly addressed the assumption, clearly stating that her baby’s father is not Muslim. She further explained that the name Yakira is of Hebrew origin, meaning “beloved,” “precious,” and “someone of great worth.”

Her response read:

“He is not. Yakira is a Hebrew name. Beloved, precious and someone of great worth.”

With that, Toke has officially put the rumours to rest.
