Praise and Criticism
While many applauded Tiwa Savage for her humility and respect, others questioned why she needed to kneel for a man younger than her.
Supportive comments included:
“Yoruba people and respect na 5 & 6. Love it.”
“As it should be. Everything no suppose end for quarrel.”
“This is humility.”
“Boss na boss, only those with correct sense.”
But some users disagreed:
“That’s wrong. Tiwa is 45 and DJ is 42, so why kneel?”
“Superstar dey kneel to greet, meanwhile one Gen Z… go say it can never be me.”
Their Long HistoryTiwa Savage and Don Jazzy share a strong bond dating back to 2012 when she joined Mavin Records. She spent almost eight years with the label before signing a global deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2019.
After her exit, Don Jazzy publicly celebrated her contributions, saying Mavin would always stand behind her. Tiwa responded emotionally, admitting it was difficult to leave because she wanted to continue making him proud. She described Don Jazzy as “an amazing person” and begged him never to reduce his love and support for her.
Tiwa also once wrote a heartfelt note recalling how Don Jazzy supported her during her pregnancy, stating there was “nothing he would hear about me that would make him mad.”
Don Jazzy, during a podcast, said Tiwa was one of the best artistes he had ever worked with and confirmed she would continue to receive royalties from him “for the rest of her life.”
Over the years, Tiwa has repeatedly celebrated Don Jazzy on his birthdays, calling him “the best boss ever” and saying he would always hold a special place in her heart.
