“The Role That Changed Everything: Lateef Adedimeji Thanks Yewande Adekoya”

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has once again looked back on his rise to fame, sharing a heartfelt reflection on Instagram.

Lateef remembered how actress and producer Yewande Adekoya once faced questions and doubts when she chose him for a major role years ago. Despite what people said, she believed in him and stood by her decision. Today, he says he is grateful she saw what others couldn’t.

He revealed that his very first personal production was a movie titled “O Se Regi” in 2007/2008 — not “Wale Danger,” as many fans think. He put everything into that project, but it didn’t succeed, and he almost gave up. Still, he continued working, doing many free jobs and hustling until things finally changed for the better.

His breakthrough came in 2013 with the movie “Kudi Klepto”, produced by Yewande Adekoya. When she selected him for the role, people asked why she chose someone “unknown,” but she stood firm, and that role became the turning point in his career. Looking back, Lateef says all he can say is Alhamdulilah.

Lateef encouraged fans never to give up, reminding them that determination and hard work always bring results.

This isn’t the first time the actor has shared his story. Earlier this year, he spoke about how a senior colleague once told him he would fail in one year. Lateef boldly replied that he only needed two years to prove himself — and he did.

Last year, he also celebrated how far he had come, sharing an old photo and admitting that he never imagined becoming who he is today. He said that if someone had predicted his success back then, he would have “thrown stones” at them in disbelief.

In another reflection, Lateef shared how he moved from working backstage to leading top Nollywood stars, describing it as a blessing and proof that persistence pays off.
