Kogi APC Loses Three Chieftains, State Government Mourns

The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been thrown into mourning following the death of three of its key members.


The deceased are Hon. Onojah James Ignatius, Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, and Alhaji Alih Atabo. Their deaths were confirmed by the Kogi State Government in an official statement released on Monday, January 12, 2025, by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja.


According to the statement, Hon. Onojah James Ignatius was a Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor and a former Chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area. Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman served as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, while Alhaji Alih Atabo was the APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.


The government described the late party leaders as dedicated and loyal servants who gave their best to Kogi State and the APC. Fanwo noted that Onojah James Ignatius was a strong grassroots mobiliser who was deeply passionate about community development and good governance


He also praised Jatto Onimisi Suleiman for carrying out his duties with humility, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility, always putting the interests of the people first. Alhaji Alih Atabo was described as a committed party man whose efforts helped strengthen the APC at the ward level.


The commissioner conveyed the condolences of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Kogi State Government, and the people of the state to the families of the deceased, as well as to their friends, associates, and members of the APC.


He also extended sympathy to the people of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina local government areas, noting that the contributions of the late leaders to the growth of the state and the ruling party would not be forgotten. The government stated that their legacies of service, sacrifice, and dedication would continue to inspire others.
