President Bola Tinubu has met separately with two state governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid ongoing political movements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President first held talks with Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who arrived earlier in the day. This meeting was his first known engagement with President Tinubu since he officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Later, Tinubu also met with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who remains a member of the PDP and is one of the few opposition governors yet to defect. Makinde is widely believed to be preparing for a possible presidential bid in 2027 and is positioning himself for the PDP’s presidential ticket.
The meetings are seen as part of broader political consultations as major stakeholders realign and strengthen alliances ahead of the next general elections. In recent months, President Tinubu has continued to engage governors across party lines, signaling ongoing efforts to shape the country’s political landscape.
