“The way people expose the dead on social media these days is so annoying” – Toyin Alausa condemns the use of death for social media clout.

Nollywood actress Toyin Alausa has spoken out against what she described as the growing trend of using death to chase clout on social media.

Taking to her Instagram page, the veteran actress expressed anger over how people now openly display the bodies of the deceased online. She described the practice as annoying and disturbing, questioning the reason behind exposing the dead to public view.

Toyin stressed that once a death is confirmed, the respectful thing to do is to cover the body, especially the face, as a sign of dignity and respect. According to her, this also helps to provide emotional closure for the family and loved ones left behind.

While she acknowledged that recording footage may sometimes be necessary for identification or clarification, especially when relatives are not present, she strongly opposed turning such moments into social media content. She described the act as inhumane and deeply disrespectful to the deceased.

The actress added that seeing lifeless bodies can be traumatic and unhealthy for viewers, urging the public to show more empathy. She concluded by calling on people to do better and treat the dead with respect, regardless of where the death occurs.
