“Nothing Is Wrong with Her Performing Deliverance Unless It’s Under Pretense” – Delta Governor’s Aide Defends Tonto Dikeh

An aide to the Delta State governor, Ossai Ovie Success, has defended Nollywood actress-turned-evangelist Tonto Dikeh following criticism over a viral video showing her conducting a deliverance session for a young girl in a school in Abuja.

The video circulating online shows Tonto Dikeh praying over a student who was lying on the floor while she attempted to cast out what she described as demons. The footage sparked strong reactions from many Nigerians on social media, with some accusing her of child abuse and calling for her arrest.

Reacting to the controversy, Ossai Ovie Success said he does not see anything wrong with the actress performing a deliverance prayer. According to him, such an act is acceptable if it was not staged and was genuinely inspired by the Holy Spirit.

He explained that when the Holy Spirit leads a person, deliverance can take place at any time, anywhere, and on any day. However, he added that he would be disappointed if the act was done under false pretence, stressing that God would judge anyone who carries out such actions dishonestly.

His comments have added to the ongoing debate online, with Nigerians continuing to share mixed reactions over the incident and the role of religious practices in public spaces.
