“He betrayed me after all I did” — Yomi Fabiyi accuses Baba Ijesha of betrayal after prison release.

Nollywood actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has accused his colleague Baba Ijesha of betraying him after allegedly sending people to intimidate him shortly after his release from prison.

Fabiyi said the incident came as a shock because he had strongly supported Baba Ijesha during his difficult legal battle, even when many others in the Nollywood industry distanced themselves from him.

He recalled that he stood by Baba Ijesha throughout the 2021 sexual assault case, which later led to a conviction, and continued his support even after the actor completed his sentence in 2025.

According to him, things changed after Baba Ijesha regained freedom. He alleged that he was threatened for speaking about the case and that his loyalty was not appreciated.

Fabiyi also claimed that Baba Ijesha warned him not to talk publicly about the matter again and even excluded his name from a song released after his release from prison.

In his words, he said:

“The same God that witnessed Baba Ijesha’s ungratefulness is now dealing with him. After all my efforts to save him from a life sentence, he betrayed me… I recall all the efforts I made for his appeal, and how he went behind my back to tell a man to threaten me not to talk about his case again. When he wanted to release a song, he intentionally excluded my name, thinking they could mock me. However, evil deeds will always boomerang.”

Fabiyi said he believed their relationship in the Yoruba movie industry was based on mutual respect, but he now feels hurt, sidelined, and disrespected.

His decision to support Baba Ijesha during the highly publicized case previously divided public opinion, with some praising his loyalty while others criticized him. However, Fabiyi maintained that his actions were based on personal conviction and fairness, which makes the alleged betrayal even more painful for him.
