Popular Nigerian media personality and OAP Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2dtun, has called on Nigerians to boycott South African singer Tyla's upcoming concert in Lagos amid renewed reports of xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.
The call follows the announcement of Tyla's World Tour, which includes a scheduled performance in Lagos on December 22. While many fans initially welcomed the announcement, it has since sparked debate online due to the ongoing concerns over the treatment of Nigerians living in South Africa.
Reacting to the development, Do2dtun expressed strong dissatisfaction, arguing that attending the concert at a time when fellow Nigerians are allegedly facing attacks in South Africa would send the wrong message. He maintained that Nigerians should stand in solidarity with victims of xenophobia by refusing to support the event.
The media personality went further by describing anyone who chooses to attend the concert despite the situation as "bastards," a remark that has generated widespread reactions across social media.
Do2dtun also shared a post reinforcing his position, joining a growing number of Nigerians calling for a boycott of Tyla's Lagos concert until concerns over the safety and treatment of Nigerians in South Africa are adequately addressed.
His comments have since divided opinions online. While some Nigerians backed his call, insisting that solidarity is necessary in the face of xenophobic attacks, others argued that Tyla should not be held personally responsible for the actions of individuals or the South African government.
