Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde has shared details about the difficulties she experienced in her failed marriage, revealing that the problems began during the early stage of her second pregnancy.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, the actress said she started having serious marital issues before she was three months pregnant. According to her, her husband constantly complained during her first trimester and often questioned her, saying she was not the first woman to become pregnant.
Akintunde said the experience left her heartbroken and in tears throughout the pregnancy. Despite the emotional pain, she described her second daughter as a special gift from God, saying she believes God rewarded her with the child after everything she went through.
The actress also shared her views on polygamy, saying she sees nothing wrong with being a first, second, third, or fourth wife if the relationship is built on understanding and respect.
She advised women planning to get married not to rush into marriage. Instead, she encouraged couples to spend enough time getting to know each other's character, attitudes, and behaviour before making a lifelong commitment.
Akintunde said her personal experience should serve as a lesson to others, urging women to carefully study their partners, even if it takes several months, before agreeing to marriage.
