The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the passing of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing his death as a painful loss to the royal family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty, and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal.
According to the monarch, Prince Adetunji was a distinguished entrepreneur, respected leader, and humanitarian whose life was marked by humility, integrity, and unwavering service to humanity. The late prince, born on December 8, 1967, hailed from the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife and served as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings.
Paying an emotional tribute, the Ooni described his late brother as more than a family member, calling him a trusted confidant, dependable pillar of strength, and a man whose life embodied honour, dignity, and compassion.
He praised Prince Adetunji's outstanding contributions to the business community, noting that his visionary leadership and entrepreneurial excellence earned him widespread admiration. Beyond his corporate achievements, the monarch highlighted the prince's commitment to humanitarian causes, saying he touched countless lives through his generosity, wise counsel, and selfless acts of service.
The Ooni further stated that Prince Adetunji consistently upheld the values and traditions of the Ojaja Royal Family with humility while remaining committed to the growth and development of society.
Expressing his condolences to members of the Ogunwusi family, friends, associates, and the people of Ile-Ife, the monarch urged everyone to find solace in the remarkable legacy left behind by the late prince.
According to the Ooni, although Prince Adetunji's earthly journey has come to an end, his impact on humanity and the royal family will remain unforgettable.
He concluded his tribute with prayers for strength and comfort, asking Almighty Olodumare to grant the family and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
