“She’s Just A Musician”- Oyemykke Defends Tyla Amid Boycott Calls Over Lagos Concert

Media personality Oyemykke has weighed in on the controversy surrounding South African singer Tyla's upcoming concert in Nigeria, urging Nigerians not to hold the Grammy-winning artiste responsible for the actions of others.

The debate has intensified following renewed criticism of Tyla over her perceived silence during past xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa. While some public figures have called for a boycott of her Lagos concert, Oyemykke believes the backlash is unfair.

Speaking on the issue, Oyemykke said he strongly condemns the xenophobic attacks that have targeted foreigners in South Africa but insisted that Tyla should not be blamed for incidents beyond her control.

According to him, the singer is simply an entertainer, and any decision to support or boycott her concert should be left to individual Nigerians. He noted that those who disagree with her performance in Nigeria are free not to purchase tickets rather than directing their anger at the artiste.

His comments have added another dimension to the ongoing debate, with social media users divided between those who agree that Tyla should not be held accountable for South Africa's xenophobia crisis and those who believe she should have spoken out against the attacks.
