“I Was Dying Inside” – Bovi Reveals How He Performed at an Event Weeks After Losing His Mother

Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has opened up about one of the most difficult periods of his career, revealing how he was forced to entertain an audience while dealing with the shocking news of his mother’s kidnapping.

The comedian shared the emotional experience during an appearance on the Nancy Isime Show, where he was asked whether he had ever had to perform professionally while facing a serious personal crisis.

Bovi recalled that the incident happened in 2012, when his mother was kidnapped while he was in Ilashe, Lagos, attending an event. He said he received the distressing news while the kidnapping was taking place in Delta State.

According to the comedian, he immediately began making calls and trying to understand what was happening to his mother.

Despite the frightening situation and the emotional turmoil he was experiencing, Bovi said he still had to return to the event and continue performing because of his professional commitment.

Recalling the difficult moment, he said:

“So in 2012, my mom was kidnapped, I was called, but I was in Ilashe doing an event.”

Bovi’s revelation highlights the pressure entertainers sometimes face to remain professional and deliver performances even when dealing with deeply painful personal circumstances behind the scenes.
