NFF Orders Super Falcons’ Technical Crew to Step Down After World Cup Qualification Failure

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has ordered the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The decision comes after a disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the Super Falcons failed to secure an automatic World Cup ticket.

The team, led by Justine Madugu, was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the tournament before suffering a 1–0 defeat to Cameroon in the African playoffs, ending their hopes of qualifying for the global competition.

The setback marks a historic moment for Nigerian women’s football, as the Super Falcons will miss the Women’s World Cup for the first time since the tournament was established.

In a statement issued on Monday, the NFF Executive Committee announced its decision, directing the members of the technical crew to vacate their positions immediately.

“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect.”

The decision follows growing disappointment over the team’s failure to secure qualification and is expected to pave the way for changes within the Super Falcons’ technical setup.
