Ronke Oshodi-Oke Speaks Out Over Backlash From Viral Political Interview

Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has addressed the backlash that followed her recent comments about her involvement with politicians and political figures.

The actress had sparked reactions after an interview with African A-List, where she openly stated that she supports politicians primarily for financial reasons. Ronke urged Nigerians not to insult or criticise her whenever they see her associating with political figures, explaining that her involvement in politics is driven by the need to make a living.

During the interview, the actress also made it clear that she was not interested in discussing Nigerian politics or influencing people’s voting decisions. According to her, Nigerian politics is “dirty,” and she does not want to be held responsible for influencing anyone to vote for a particular candidate.

However, her comments generated mixed reactions online, with some critics questioning her stance and accusing celebrities of supporting politicians while ordinary Nigerians suffer from the consequences of poor leadership.

Reacting to the backlash, Ronke Oshodi-Oke clarified that her comments should not be interpreted as an attack on the politicians or political leaders she works with. She insisted that she has not had any fallout with her political associates and that they have not offended her.

According to the actress, the only major issue she had with them was an incident in 2020, which she publicly addressed at the time.

“The people I work for in politics didn’t offend me in any way. The only thing they did that annoyed me was the saga in 2020, and I came out to speak about it,” she said.

Her latest clarification appears to be an attempt to set the record straight following the controversy surrounding her viral interview. While Ronke Oshodi-Oke maintains that her relationship with politicians is largely professional and financially motivated, her comments have continued to generate discussions about the role celebrities play in Nigerian politics and whether public figures should use their influence to speak up on issues affecting the country.
