Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye has joined colleagues and fans in mourning the death of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing him as a legend and an icon whose impact on the Nigerian film industry will never be forgotten.
Ademoye shared a throwback video from one of their moments together on set, explaining that she has chosen to remember the late actor through the happy memories they created rather than focus solely on the pain of his passing.
The actress admitted that “sad” could not adequately describe how she feels, while reflecting on Ogogo’s personality, his contribution to the industry and the special connection they shared.
According to Bimbo, one of her most memorable moments with the veteran actor was their final conversation, during which he spoke to her about her father’s political journey. She revealed that she was unaware of how close Ogogo and her father had been until he shared the story with her.
She also recalled how the veteran actor would enthusiastically call out “Arole!” whenever he spotted her, even from a distance, highlighting the warmth and affection he showed towards her.
In her emotional tribute, Bimbo wrote:
“This is how I choose to remember you. Sad can’t quantify our feelings right now. A legend, an icon! The action is for life! Mo fi olorun oba se eleri, gbogbo wa la ma je breakfast! Ore Demoye, Ore Afin! I remember when you told me about my dad’s political journey! I had no idea you guys were that close. You’d scream Arole! From miles away whenever you saw me. Kabiyesi, journey well; you lived, you loved. Rest in power, legend!”
Her tribute has further highlighted the deep relationships Ogogo built throughout his decades-long career, both on and off screen. His death has continued to generate an outpouring of grief from actors, filmmakers and fans who have celebrated his immense contribution to Yoruba cinema.
Bimbo’s message reflects the sentiments of many of his colleagues: although his absence is painful, his legacy, memorable performances and relationships with those he encountered will continue to live on.
