“What Ogogo Told Me During My Hospital Visit” – Yinka Quadri Recalls His Last Visit, Opens Up About Their 42-Year Friendship

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late colleague and bosom friend, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, reflecting on their decades-long friendship and the emotional moments surrounding their final meeting.

In an emotional social media post, Quadri began by expressing his acceptance of the will of God, writing, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un”, which means, “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”

The veteran actor said the reality of death reminds everyone that life is temporary, regardless of a person’s wealth, status or achievements. He thanked God for the life Taiwo Hassan lived and for the memories he left behind.

Quadri also revealed that he was deeply emotional when he visited Taiwo Hassan at the hospital for the last time. According to him, he could not hold back his tears after seeing his longtime friend lying on the hospital bed.

He recalled that Taiwo noticed his tears and tried to comfort him, telling him, “Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me.” Quadri responded with an “Amen,” holding on to hope and faith.

The actor further shared a touching detail from the hospital visit. He said Taiwo Hassan asked him for a bottle of water, which he drank. The late actor then pointed out that he was able to drink the water despite having eaten earlier that morning. He reportedly asked the doctors to confirm whether he had eaten, and they confirmed that he had.

According to Quadri, the moment made him say, “Glory be to God,” as his hope and faith became stronger. He added that the doctors only advised them to remain prayerful.

Reflecting on the loss, Quadri admitted that he knew Taiwo Hassan did not wish to leave his children, family, friends and the many people who loved him so soon. However, he said everyone must accept the “unquestionable will of God,” despite the pain of his passing.

Quadri also revealed that his relationship with Taiwo Hassan dated back to 1984, meaning they shared more than four decades of friendship. He described their bond as one that grew into something far deeper than an ordinary friendship.

According to him, “Many people tried to create a distance between us, but God never allowed it.”

The veteran actor concluded his tribute by praying for God to forgive Taiwo Hassan’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and receive his soul into His loving care.

His emotional message has offered fans a glimpse into the deep personal bond shared by the two Nollywood veterans and the pain Quadri is experiencing following the loss of a friend he had known for over 40 years.
