Nollywood veteran actor Yinka Quadri has once again been overcome with emotion while mourning the death of his longtime friend and colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Taiwo Hassan reportedly passed away on Sunday, August 23, after battling stage-four cancer. His daughter announced the heartbreaking news during a live video, sending shockwaves across the Yoruba movie industry.
The veteran actor was laid to rest the following day according to Islamic rites, with several of his colleagues, friends and loved ones attending the emotional burial ceremony.
Days after his burial, an 8-day Fidau prayer was held in his honour, drawing members of the Yoruba film industry and other mourners who gathered to pray for the repose of his soul.
At the event, Yinka Quadri, who shared a close relationship with the late actor, delivered an emotional speech. While addressing Taiwo Hassan’s children, wife and other family members, he encouraged them to remain strong and place their trust in God rather than relying solely on people during the difficult period.
However, while speaking, Quadri became overwhelmed by emotion and suddenly broke down in tears.
Those around him immediately moved to comfort the veteran actor before eventually helping him leave the stage. The emotional moment further demonstrated the depth of his relationship with Taiwo Hassan and how deeply the actor’s death has affected him.
